About the MyShelle Method

Why the MyShelle Method Is Different

The MyShelle Method brings together practitioner bodywork, nervous system education, coaching, and self-application within one connected process.

Many approaches focus mainly on what happens during the appointment.

The client receives the treatment, experiences temporary relief, and then returns to daily life without always knowing how to recognize, understand, or support what their body needs next.

The MyShelle Method is designed to bridge that gap.

During practitioner bodywork, your body receives a carefully paced experience of compression, contact, support, body mapping, and connection. You are not responsible for creating the experience yourself. You are given the opportunity to notice what happens when support comes from outside of you and whether you can receive that support while remaining connected to your own body, boundaries, and choices.

Coaching helps you make sense of what you are noticing.

Together, we explore the patterns that may be showing up through your tension, breathing, movement, boundaries, emotions, habits, or relationships. This gives language and context to an experience that may have previously felt difficult to understand or explain.

You are also taught simple elements of the method that can be applied to your own body between sessions. These Self-to-Self practices allow you to continue building awareness, support, and connection without becoming dependent on the practitioner to create every shift for you.

This creates a complete process:

The practitioner bodywork allows you to experience receiving.

The coaching helps you understand what your body is communicating.

The self-application helps you participate in your own process and carry the work into daily life.

Each part supports the others.

Bodywork without education may feel meaningful in the moment, but the client may not understand how to recognize or continue the experience.

Education without a physical experience may make sense intellectually, while the body continues responding through the same familiar patterns.

Self-practice alone can be valuable, but it does not always create the same experience as receiving support from another person.

The MyShelle Method integrates all three.

You are not only receiving something that is done to you.

You are learning how to notice yourself, how to respond to yourself, and how to remain connected to yourself while receiving from someone else.

This is what allows the method to move beyond a treatment session and become a practice of relationship.

A relationship with your body.

A relationship with your boundaries.

A relationship with support.

A relationship with yourself.

And a relationship with others.

The goal is not for you to need the practitioner forever.

The goal is to give you experiences, understanding, and practical tools that help expand your capacity to support yourself, receive support from others, and recognize what your body is communicating before you automatically override it.

The practitioner provides the experience.

The coaching creates understanding.

The self-practice builds ownership.

Together, they help the work become something you can live.

About michelle

Meet Michelle

Michelle Carrie McDougall is the founder of the MyShelle Method and a nervous system practitioner specializing in bodywork, education, and coaching.

Her work brings together Neurodevelopmental Primitive Reflex Integration, Touch for Health, Conscious Education Coaching, Somatic Focalizing Meditation, and somatosensory bodywork.

Michelle’s approach was shaped by both professional training and personal experience.

Her journey began through supporting her son’s developmental challenges and deepened through her own experience of lifelong movement and nervous system patterns.

The MyShelle Method was created to help clients understand that physical bracing, emotional protection, sensory overwhelm, relational boundaries, and patterns of receiving are not separate experiences.

They are often part of the same body story.

Michelle’s work is educational, experiential, and deeply respectful of each client’s pace.

Her intention is not to tell the body what it should do.

Her intention is to provide the conditions in which the body can begin to recognize support, connection, and new possibilities.
